asteroid named after our Vanessa-Mae

Post by Xanthippe »

Hi guys fans of Vanessa-Mae,

I just found out that a main belt asteroid is named after our girl Vanessa-Mae. I posted in the news section on this the following

A small main belt asteroid body orbiting the sun was named after Vanessa-Mae.

The small main belt asteroid 1990 QW17 was discovered by L. V. Zhuravleva on August 26, 19990 at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. The asteroid has been renamed Vanessa-Mae. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory of the CIT writes on its website to following statement:

10313 Vanessa-Mae: Discovered 1990 Aug. 26 by L. V. Zhuravleva at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory.
Brilliant violinist Vanessa-Mae (b. 1978) created a "bridge between classical and popular music". Her debut album in 1995 sold two million copies. She has won world recognition for her performances in the most prestigious halls.

Vanessa must be really popular with scientists. First we had botanists naming flowers after her, and now astronomers.
