I was in my local "Borders Books & Music" store last night and they had about 8 copies of Vanessa's new CD, "The Best of Vanessa-Mae" on sale for US$14.97. The track list and look is identical to the European release. I didn't buy it so I cannot comment on what the booklets interior looks like in comparison but I assume it's also the same.
One point of interest is that it has a UPC code (the bar code) that is different than the other editions and the back label says Printed in USA. This is interesting because I expected EMI USA would have simple imported the CD from Europe as they had done with the Enhanced CA1. This shows a commitment from EMI in the USA market to not only release her CD here but even bear the cost of producing it here, well at least producing the back tray inlay card here.
That's my positive spin on it.
Also the Borders had 5 or 6 of her other CD's too, I very good showing. (cataloged under "V" in the classical section,... no pop or rock bin)

Thanks Glenn for this interesting information.
It all looks to a commitment of EMI USA to Vanessa-Mae indeed. Well, very good to know.
I asked our Vanessa-Mae to have attention for her fans in the USA and the neglected USA market as a whole in my letters to her for her birthday in both 2001 and 2002 projects. I am not claiming that it worked, but in my opinion a motivated artist that cares about fans can't be untouched by fans appreciation like we have for our Vanessa-Mae.
Remains the question whether Vanessa-Mae can influence the release policy of the varoius local EMI departments. I really don't know.
Anyone has an opinion on this?

Is the 'Best of Vanessa-Mae' cd already avaliable in Germany?
It is not listed yet in her discography at www.emimusic.de!

i agree with you rijko.
i checked about 4 of my favourite cd stores (they are all legal... :;): ) and no one of them had the best of cd. so i began to wonder and to a look at my cd if it's a copy.
after 10 minutes checking there was nothing which looked like a copy. everything was okay, but i'm still surprised.
gratulations to you, eva ! you must be really happy to get the cd ! art of war is still one of her best songs !
