Hello People
Im in desperate need of trying to find something in the pop/jazz realm to play for an audition. Anybody have any suggestions?
If anybody had any instrumental Vanessa Mae songs that would REALLY help.
Anybody - Need Help
For Violin? I assume yes, violin.
I recommend looking for a jazz standard.
I'll look in my archive for something that may adapt well.
I'm thinking "Take Five" By Dave Brubeck.
I'll upload for you to listen to at this link (once I dig it out) Take Five
Sheet music should be easy to find and an adaption to violin would be quite interesting and impressive,..
If I've assumed too much here, Sorry,.. enjoy the track.
For a more traditional violin piece, if you can play it
"J. S. Bach / Partita #3 in E for solo violin: Preludio"
(aka "Bach Street Prelude"). Here.

I have room for 2 pieces on this audition tape
the first slot is full with the Opening Movement of Bruchs Violin Concerto in G Minor
Glenn, When I record my audition tape next week for Peabody I'll send you my tracks of the Partita since you like it so much
As far as the jazz or pop music i need. It needs to be something similar to Vanessa or Bond. Who was the person that said they had a vanessa Mae instrumental CD?

I don't understand your question? Most of Vanessa's CD's are intrumental. If by instrumental, your saying violin only or predominently, I do not know of such a CD, and I should know.
I think most audition requests require/prefer CD now-a-days. But I could be mistaken. Are you investigating Burklee in Boston also, like we discussed.
Also here is another arrangement of Take Five by George Benson on Guitar which may assist in arranging it for violin if your interested.
As for instrumentals similar to Vanessa & Bond you may find Linda Lampenius fits your needs. Her original pop CD is long gone. It is very unlikely you'll find her music on the web.
I may have a few tracks available on the Vanessa-Mae site. I'll look and post a link here.
Addition: My Linda page can be found at: Linda Lampenius but my audio links are 5 years old and go to a site I abandoned long ago. I'll edit the page and point the links back to new encodes.

By instrumental i meant without violin...Someone here had one, but it was a pirated one i believe.
CD or Tape, I'm sending in CD
1 CD is for Peabody Conservatory
*Bruch, Bach and Kreutzer
1 CD is for Berklee
*Sarasate, To Be Determined, and Scales
I arranged Take Five a while back, but im looking for something a little more my style.
Yes I have Lindas CD in MP3 form though ??? and her style fits quite well. Itd be nice if I could get like a music minus one of Vanessa or Bond or Lindas music. do you know of any for Linda Glenn? She was supposed to have another CD comin out after that Classical one, do you know what happened?

OK, duh!! Dumb me.
I understand now. I do not know of such a collection available nor equipment that could selectively remove 1 instrument. I know vocals can often be surpressed (feature on many Karaoke machines) but a specific instrument,.. without a multi-track master,.. that seems difficult, even with "Pro Tools" software. Out of my area of knowledge, I'm sure someone here has an idea.

Woohoo, Take Five. That was the official anthem for our music class of 2000, hehe. I still remember the day I discovered Dave Brubeck...
However, I think you should try some other standards other than Take Five - unless you're having a guitar accompaniment or something (or someone who's willing to bang out the da da, da da, da dum over and over again on the piano) - because you really need the 5/4 thing going somewhere other than the main instrument.
Try Watermelon Man (Herbie Hancock). It's a simple tune but you can do heaps with it. Even make it funky.
