In the year 2000, Vanessa's dog Gaston, escaped from the studio while she was recording "Subject To Change". He was hit and killed in traffic. Vanessa loves her dogs as others would their children. She was heartbroken. As a remembrance of her dog Gaston, here is a photo of Vanessa with "Gaston" on her upper left shoulder.
For her birthday that year she received "Gaspard".
She also dedicated her new album "Subject to Change" to Gaston.
